From York to Austria

Our Wedding Day!

Overlooking Salzburg

Chris and Natalie were married at St Wilfrid’s Catholic Church, York, on 15th August! St Wilfrid’s houses the shrine of Our Lady of Mercy. Natalie laid a bouquet at the statue of Mary after the Nuptial Mass, a traditional practice. We then went on honeymoon to Austria. Of course many Marian shrines were visited there: in Vienna, Our Lady of the Bowed Head; on the Danube, Maria Taferl; then Austria’s national shrine, Mariazell; also in the mountains, Frauenberg; at Salzburg, Maria Plain. We went across the border to Bavaria and travelled to Germany’s national shrine, Altotting; near to that is Marienberg; finally, two beautiful mountain shrines near Berchtesgaden, Maria Gern and Maria Ettenberg.
